The Role of Activities Coordinator in Co. Kilkenny:
You will support the Residents in carrying out their daily activities under the direction and supervision of qualified nursing staff.
The role includes organizing daily standard activities, and implementing special activities as requested by or of interest to Residents.
Organise and maintain standard daily activities such as arts and crafts, baking, gardening, flower arranging, newspapers quizzes, card games, bingo, exercise sessions, walks, hand massages, nail care, arranging hairdressing appointments, sensory room and arranging attendance at mass or other religious services.
Planning and implementing special activities which such as outings, garden visits, birthday parties, Christmas and other seasonal celebrations.
Draw up a daily and weekly program of activities.
Maintain daily files and charts for each Resident that provide clear evidence of the activities planned and carried out.
Assist with the orientation of new Residents to the Nursing Home environment
Report Resident's complaints, concerns and requests to the nursing staff
Attend in-service training and education programmes from time to time as required
Report all incidents and accidents involving self or a Resident, other staff or visitors to the Director of Nursing or deputy immediately. Report any changes in a Resident's condition to the nursing staff
Work in any area of the Nursing Home as may be required.
Skills & Qualifications for the Activities Coordinator:
Minimum QQI level 5 qualification in relevant area
Completion of Sonas & Imagination Gym courses (desirable but not essential)
Enthusiastic, caring, reliable and empathetic nature
Strong Communication skills
Ability to work on own initiative
Fluent level of English both written and oral.
