Living as a Nurse in Galway

Galway is a multicultural, vibrant city based on the west coast of Ireland. It is a popular seaside destination as it boasts stunning beaches and a lengthy scenic promenade overlooking Galway bay and the coast of county Clare in addition to a lively and bustling city centre. Galway is an exciting city to explore with its picturesque cobbled streets and quaint, colourful shop facades. There are a variety of famous festivals and events unique to Galway such as the annual Galway Arts Festival and the Galway Races. Home to some of Irelands most popular traditional Irish bars, you can enjoy a pint of Guinness and partake of a lively trad session any night of the week. Immerse yourself in Galway’s cultural atmosphere by enjoying a performance in the Town Hall Theatre or pay a visit to the Galway City Museum.

Sightseeing

A visit to Galway’s National Aquarium is a fun way to spend a rainy afternoon. When the weather is fine, enjoy the sandy beaches of Salthill or experience the buskers and street performers lining the city streets. A short trip from the city brings you to the vast expanse of rugged untouched landscape that is Connemara. Pay a visit to Kylemore Abbey or Ashford Castle while taking in the magnificent mountains and lakes of Connemara National Park.

Banking Information

There are a range of banks around Galway’s city centre which are easily reached by foot or car.

If you are from overseas and need to open a bank account you are required to provide two forms of identification– one should have a photo, such as a current passport or drivers license and the other should provide proof of your permanent address in Ireland. It may be difficult to provide proof of address if you have recently relocated and so the bank may accept a confirmation of employment letter, which can produced upon request, provided that you are a current employee of Servisource.
