Level 5 restrictions is the highest level of restrictions in the Government’s Covid-19 roadmap which was introduced in mid-September.

To put it simply, Level 5 restrictions are very similar to the restrictions experienced in March and April. The difference between the March restrictions and the Level 5 restrictions is that schools will remain open under the Level 5 restrictions.

There has been some alterations to the original Level 5 restrictions that were published in the Government’s Covid-19 roadmap:

Under Level 5 restrictions people will be urged to stay at home. All non-essential businesses would close.

Exercise outside of your home is permitted but within a 5km radius of your home.

You can meet up outdoors with one other household within the 5km radius.

All non-essential retail would shut.

Schools and childcare services remain open.

Visits to long-term residential care facilities would be banned except in the event of compassionate circumstances.

All workers would be advised to work from home unless they are deemed an essential worker.

Bar/Restaurants would be takeaway only.

In terms of sport, only individual training is allowed meaning no matches or events are allowed take place and leisure facilities such as gyms and swimming pools would close.

Elite sports and professional sports, inter-county GAA, horse and greyhound racing, League of Ireland can all continue but behind closed doors.

There would be a limit of 25 people allowed attend a wedding or funeral.
