Description
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Social Care Worker to join our client. The successful candidate will work with individuals and groups in a variety of settings, helping them to achieve their personal goals and improve their overall quality of life. You will be part of a multi-disciplinary team, working collaboratively to ensure that individuals receive the highest standards of care and support.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support Individuals: Provide person-centred care and support to individuals, assisting with daily living activities such as personal care, household tasks, and emotional support.
- Care Planning: Contribute to the development and review of individual care plans, ensuring they reflect the needs and preferences of service users.
- Monitoring & Reporting: Regularly monitor and record progress in care and wellbeing, documenting any changes or concerns. Report these to line managers or relevant professionals.
- Promote Independence: Encourage service users to develop and maintain skills that promote independence, choice, and autonomy.
- Advocacy: Act as an advocate for individuals, ensuring their rights are respected and their voices are heard.
- Collaboration: Work closely with healthcare professionals, families, and other stakeholders to ensure a holistic approach to care.
- Safeguarding: Ensure the safety and well-being of all individuals under care, following the guidelines for safeguarding vulnerable persons.
- Crisis Management: Assist with crisis intervention where necessary, providing support in times of emotional or physical distress.
- Professional Development: Continuously develop your skills and knowledge by attending relevant training, workshops, and courses.
Qualifications, Knowledge & Experience
Applicants must:
- Hold a minimum of a Level 7 on the QQI Framework – BA in Social Care Studies or equivalent qualification in Heath or Social Care.
- Have 1 years experience of working with vulnerable adults or adults with intellectual disabilities.
- An understanding of current policy and developments at national and sectoral level in relation to Social Care within disability services.
- An ability to follow, evaluate and contribute to the further development of plans and methods to meet the ongoing needs of individuals supported.
- Effective interpersonal and communication (verbal and written) skills.
- Proficient IT skills relevant to the role, to include Microsoft Office Excel, Word, SharePoint, OneDrive and Teams.
- A full driver’s licence and availability of own car is an essential requirement.
Skills & Competencies:
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Knowledge of current social care legislation and practices in Ireland.
- A genuine passion for supporting vulnerable individuals.
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information appropriately.
- Knowledge of risk assessment and crisis management.
Additional Information:
- The role may require working in a variety of settings, including residential homes, community services, or in outreach work.
- Successful candidates will be subject to Garda vetting.
